Don't leave Downtown without it!
Make sure to stop in and pick up a 2008 Tulip Time poster before they sell out. This year's poster is generating a lot of buzz. The simplicity of the image is a dramatic and appealing twist to the typically more traditional image of tulips. The poster was created by Yolanda Gonzales, an East Grand Rapids artist, who titles her piece, "She loves me not." The poster has been printed in three sizes: an 8x10 poster, a 18x24 poster and a 24x36 Giclee print on canvas. A Glass Act
Bill McGrath has been combining earth, air, fire and spirit into his beautiful pieces of glass art for more than 20 years. These tulip inspired glass platters are made from an intricate process of stenciling layers of powdered enamel on a glass surface. After the tulip designs are tediously created, another piece of glass is placed on top and then kiln fired for upwards of 20 hours, fusing the glass and color together. The result is a handcrafted, one of a kind, colorful glass art form. Since the glass has been fused, it can be used for serving because it is fully food and dishwasher safe. |
