Kate Moynihan's career began as a registered nurse but, after several years she decided to return to college to further develop her innate artistic skill. In 1993, She moved back to her native state of Michigan to pursue a life as an artist and gallery owner with her husband Larry Weller.
Moynihan's Choice of style is mixed media, such as rice paper layered on water color paper. She then paints with watercolor, inks, or acrylics depending on the effect she wants to achieve. Moynihan is inspired by the wonders of Michigan's landscape, shoreline, trees and plant life. She has mastered a vivid palette to express her contemporary style.
In 2004, the Holland Tulip Time Festival selected her watercolor rendition of tulips for the 75th Diamond Anniversary commemorative limited edition and poster print.
